Cenmetrix developed Sri Lanka’s first AFIS (Automated Fingerprint ID System) called the CenAFIS to match fingerprint of all Sri Lankans employed overseas. Integrated with the AFIS system is a passport scanner which captures details of the person’s passport to detect fraudulent passports and blacklisted persons. The central database will allow matching to be done using fingerprints and passports from any of the Sri Lankan embassies located overseas which are running the CenAFIS system
Foreign Employment Bureau of Sri Lanka is a Government entity which manages the foreign employment of Sri Lankan Citizens. There are currently over 1.8 million Sri Lankans working overseas and about 300,000 more going overseas every year. In order to accurately keep record and identify people going overseas the Foreign Employment Bureau introduced the latest technology best suited to get the job done. Cenmetrix developed an AFIS (Automated Fingerprint ID System) with Neurotechnology Matching Algorithm. When a person is planning to go overseas, the persons fingerprints and passport are scanned into the system using the CenAFIS software. Using the details of the passport scanned and an ID card printer the CenAFIS software automatically prints a bank credit card with the persons picture for the user. The scanned data is fed into a central database. When the person is leaving the country at the Airport his/her fingerprint details are scanned for authentication and passport is also scanned for verification. The passport scanner is able to read the security of the passport and display the IR (Infra-Red) and UV (Ultra Violet) pictures of the passport. This checks the authenticity of the passport and detect any fraudulent passports. Comparing the data in the database the software and passport scanners are able to detect ‘black listed’ passports, which have been blacklisted by the Employment Bureau. Similarly certain Sri Lankan embassies around the world will also have the Suprema Live Fingerprint Readers and Suprema Passport Scanners. So that the foreign worker can scan their fingerprint/ passports and from the central database their details can be pulled up.
